At MeetTheMinds, we respect your privacy and your right to control your personal information. You have the right to request deletion of your personal data from our platform at any time. We are committed to making this process as straightforward as possible.

This policy explains how you can request deletion of your data, what data will be deleted, and what data we may need to retain for legal or operational purposes.

2. How to Request Data Deletion

You can request deletion of your data in the following ways:

  • Through Your Account Settings: Log in to your account and navigate to Settings → Privacy → Delete Account. This will initiate the account deletion process.
  • By Email: Send a deletion request to privacy@meettheminds.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request" and include your account email address.

  • By Mail: Send a written request to our address (see contact information below).

3. What Data Will Be Deleted

When you request data deletion, we will permanently delete the following:

  • Your account profile information (name, email, username, bio, profile picture)
  • Your personal preferences and settings
  • Your listings (items, services, businesses) - unless they are part of active transactions
  • Your messages and chat history
  • Your search history and browsing data
  • Your saved favorites and bookmarks
  • Your notification preferences
  • Your location data
  • Any other personal information associated with your account

4. Data We May Retain

In certain circumstances, we may need to retain some information even after your account deletion request:

  • Active Transactions: If you have ongoing trades, bookings, or other transactions, we may retain necessary information until these transactions are completed or resolved.
  • Legal Obligations: We may retain certain information as required by law, such as tax records, financial transaction records, or information related to legal disputes.
  • Fraud Prevention: We may retain information necessary to prevent fraud, abuse, or security threats.
  • Anonymized Data: We may retain aggregated or anonymized data that cannot be used to identify you personally.
  • Public Content: Content that you have shared publicly (such as reviews or comments) may remain visible to other users, but will no longer be associated with your account or personal information.

5. Processing Time

We will process your data deletion request within 30 days of receiving it. In some cases, particularly if there are active transactions or legal requirements, the process may take longer. We will notify you if additional time is needed.

Once your data is deleted, you will receive a confirmation email. Please note that some data may remain in our backup systems for a limited period (typically up to 90 days) before being permanently removed.

6. Account Deletion vs. Data Deletion

Account Deletion: This permanently deletes your account and all associated data. You will no longer be able to access the platform with this account.

Selective Data Deletion: You can also request deletion of specific data types while keeping your account active. For example, you may want to delete your chat history but keep your listings.

Please specify in your request whether you want to delete your entire account or only specific data.

7. Third-Party Services

If you have used third-party services (such as social media logins, payment processors, or analytics tools) in connection with your account, you may need to separately request data deletion from those services. We will assist you in identifying which third-party services may have your data.

8. Verification

To protect your privacy and security, we may need to verify your identity before processing a deletion request. This may include:

  • Confirming your email address
  • Verifying your account password
  • Asking security questions
  • Requesting additional identification documents (for sensitive requests)

9. Reversibility

Important: Once your data is deleted, this action cannot be reversed. You will need to create a new account if you wish to use our platform again in the future. Please ensure you have saved any important information before requesting deletion.
